40 people were injured and at least 7 have been killed in several states across the south by several storms and tornadoes late Wednesday.

Amongst those who were killed in the state of Mississippi was a 7-year-old boy, and an elderly married couple in their 60s, according to ABC News.

About 6 counties in Mississippi were damaged and destroyed by tornadoes, where at least 40 people were injured.

Over in Perry County, Tennessee, two fatalities were confirmed. Several buildings and residential homes were severely damaged by the storms in Wayne County, Tennessee.

In Arkansas, an 18-year-old mother was pronounced dead at the scene when a large tree fell on her house. She was inside with her 18-year-old toddler.

An approximated 68 million Americans were in the path of the Wednesday night storms. We pray for all of those affected by the tornadoes.
