James Blake

Music lovers across the globe fell in love with James Blake‘s ethereal sound when he first hit the scene.

The British singer/songwriter spoke with Pitchfork amidst the release of his new album, The Colour in Anything. In the interview, James opens up about his relationships with people, including Frank Ocean. Frank, who’s been quite dormant in putting out new music, is featured as a songwriter in two of Blake’s album tracks, “My Willing Heart” and “Always.”

Blake recalls a time where he experienced a creative block while creating the album, and that’s when he reached out to Frank for help. “The idea came from working with Frank [Ocean], who was a huge inspiration for this record: his process, the way he writes, the strength of what he does, who he is. We became very good friends.

Blake also says Frank’s upcoming record will be worth the wait. “Yes, from what I know. It may be subject to change. He is onto something, he really is,” says James. Read the full interview here.
