According to CNN Congressman Steve Scalise and aides were shot this morning while attending practice for the annual Congressional Baseball game.

There are not many details at this time, but we do know the shooting took place at an Alexandria Virginia baseball filed.  There were a many of congressmen and congressional staffers lying on the ground, no word on how many injuries at this time and who has sustained injuries.  According to The Alexandria Police department a suspect is in custody.

We will have updates as more details unfold.

Federal law enforcement has confirmed the shooter as James Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Illinois.  Hodgkinson was killed in what is being called a deliberate attack.  Five others were injured this morning including Representative Steve Scalise who is in stable condition but was undergoing surgery at the time of publication.  And according to CNN, “A congressional staffer, Zach Barth, was also injured. Matt Mika, a lobbyist for Tyson Foods who sometimes practices with the team, was also identified as one of the victims, and Sen. Jeff Flake said Mika was the most seriously injured. House Speaker Paul Ryan also identified two members of the Capitol Police who were injured, Krystal Griner and David Bailey.”
