An Upper Arlington Police lieutenant arrested for allegedly soliciting a prostitute through an online ad has resigned.

According to a news release from Upper Arlington Police, Jeffrey Conrad has submitted his resignation from the force after Columbus Police say he offered an undercover police officer $40 for sex at the Varsity Inn on Olentangy River Road near OSU’s campus in January. The meeting was set up through an ad on Backpage.com by the Columbus Vice Quad, police said.

After the arrest, Upper Arlington’s police chief Tracy Hahn was notified and Conrad was placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation by the department into the solicitation charges filed against him on January 10. Conrad later pleaded guilty to an amended charge of loitering, which was submitted before the completion of the internal investigation.

Conrad led the patrol division and supervised 32 of the department’s 50 officers. His resignation is effected. April 6.
