Gucci Mane hopped on Instagram and threw up the kind of Flashback Friday post on April 6 that is sure to keep the debate going over who is responsible for Hip Hop’s “Trap Music” wave going for years to come.

#FBF The Day I Invented Trap Music #Guwop aka #TheEvilGenius #1017Ceo,” Gucci wrote in the caption of a photo of himself that he shared with his 8.2m followers. The image that the 1017 boss put up is one of him standing beside a white hummer with an iced out neck and a white fur coat on.

While the photograph itself doesn’t give off many indications of what he could have possibly meant by the day he invented Trap Music, just one day earlier Guwop posted a Throwback Thursday picture of him turning himself in over a murder charge that he would go on to beat. Alongside the flick, the legendary rapper noted that it was the same day he released his debut album, titled, Trap House.

Trap House was unquestionably an influential album, and plenty of arguments can be made concerning just how definitive it was to the form. But T.I. has beat him to it with the argument that he is responsible for starting Trap Music by allegedly coining the term with his Trap Muzik project that came out two years prior to Gucci’s first official studio effort. Thus, there remains a degree of intrigue over just what grounds The Evil Genius bases his claim on.
