Imagine hanging out with a friend, deciding to utilize what appears to be an empty house to have a smoke session and you end up discovering a whole tiger inside!

Well this very thing happened to a man in Houston, Texas! Apparently, the person entered the home to smoke weed and was surprised to find the exotic animal. After his discovery, the intruder decided to call the police. Initially, Houston police could not believe what they were hearing. Due to the assumed mind state of the weed smokers, authorities had to be sure the man was not simply under the effects of the marijuana. It took some effort convincing them that what he was reporting was, in fact, very real.

“We questioned them as to whether they were under the effects of the drugs or they actually saw a tiger,” Sgt. Jason Alderete of the Houston Police Department’s Major Offenders, Livestock Animal Cruelty Unit said.

Once on scene, police found the caged animal inside the garage of the home. The garage was small, pitch black and in just deplorable conditions. The heavy smell of urine reeked throughout. Sgt. Alderete said it appeared that the home had been abandoned for quite some time. However, there were several empty packages of meat found with the tiger. The tiger was extremely dehydrated and accepted the water officers gave. Authorities then tranquilized the large cat, pulled it out using a large wrecker and relocated it to a local animal shelter.
On Tuesday morning, the tiger was taken to an animal sanctuary operated by animal rescue organization Fund for Animals.
The animal is one of three tigers at the Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in the Texas community of Murchison, the Humane Society has said. For now the tiger will be able to enjoy a five acre authentically wooded habitat that mimics a natural wild environment. A later decision is to be made whether or not this will be the animal’s new permanent home.
The case is still under investigation and it’s unclear if the tiger’s owner will face any charges.
