Its 2019 and the IRS are of course going to do a couple of audits this year. Im surprise to know that the state that gets Audited the most is Mississippi.
Yup thats right, Humphreys County, Mississippi, which is a very odd place for the IRS to go hunting for tax cheats. It’s a rural county in the Mississippi Delta known for its catfish farms, and more than a third of its mostly African American residents are below the poverty line.
But according to a new study, found on projects.publica.org it is the most heavily audited county in America.
There are also states like California, Texas, and a whole lot of southern states are aways getting audited.
Mississippi has an household median annual of $26,000 and is audited at a 51 percent higher than a county in Virginia, which has a household median annual $130,000.
