Showtime has acquired worldwide rights via Showtime Documentary Films to Ready for War, a new series that features the stories of three immigrant soldiers facing struggles of deportation, executive produced by Canadian rapper, Drake.

Ready for War was created by director Andrew Renzi and Nick Boak. The series examines the “cause and effect of deporting U.S. military veterans and their forced recruitment by Mexican drug cartels.”

The four-part series also tackles immigration and other serious issues such as post traumatic stress syndrome, PTSD, drug abuse, and excessive crime convictions for combat veterans, as well as the larger ramifications for immigrant soldiers.

This series will not be the Grammy-Award winning rapper’s first attempt behind the camera! Euphoria, a show executive produced by Drake starring Zendaya, is set to air on HBO in June. However, a Showtime release date for “Ready For War” has yet to be revealed.
