Let’s get a shout out for all of the good fathers out there! Being a good father today is a lot harder than it used to be. We have more pressure to succeed, relationships are suffering, jobs are scarce (even more for Black men), and most young men don’t have a good example of a father figure in their lives. So what you end up with is a man, trying to be a man, not knowing how, and not having the tools to do it. This is the story for many father out there.

But Weezy refuses to be categorized as a dead beat dad. In the past he has been criticized for having four kids with four different women. While he remains incarcerated in New York City’s infamous Rikers Island, Weezy felt it necessary to speak out about his involvement with his kids

“I’m not on child support with none (sic) of my kids because I’m a great father. So it’s (good parenting) not determined by how much money you’re paying at all. That’s not what it’s about. It’s about being there and being that important person in their lives,” Wayne said, speaking to Ozone Magazine before his incarceration.

Let’s just hope he makes it home ok to be there for his children even more.
