Jamaica Declares State Of Emergency.
Officials in Jamaica Sunday declared a state of emergency in the capital city of Kingston amid fears of escalated violence perpetrated by large groups of gang members. Roaming gangs yesterday gained control of large sections of the city and waged attacks on two police stations. “If the situation ignites, there is a possibility of severe disruptions of movement within Kingston, including blocking of access roads to the…International Airport,” the alert suggested. The United States last Friday issued a travel alert and advised its citizens “to monitor local news reports” and restrict movement “outside their residence or hotel.”
