Jordan on LeBron: I’d Never Have Done That
LeBron James might be able to wave off criticism from fans, from his former team and from media outlets, but will he be able to wave ofF criticism from one of his heroes? We may find out soon enough. Michael Jordan, who LeBron has been compared to many times over, was asked on Sunday about James plotting with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to play in Miami. “There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry [Bird], called up Magic [Johnson] and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,'” Jordan said. “But that’s … things are different. I can’t say that’s a bad thing. It’s an opportunity these kids have today. In all honesty, I was trying to beat those guys.” Meanwhile, TNT analyst Charles Barkley has said that LeBron’s choice to play in Miami has forever changed his legacy. “He’ll never be Jordan,” Barkley said last week. “This clearly takes him out of the conversation … if he could’ve got a championship [in Cleveland], it would have been over the top for his legacy, just one in Cleveland. No matter how many he wins in Miami, it clearly is Dwyane Wade’s team.”
