GAME BAN
Microsoft is in the midst of a huge crackdown on video game piracy. The software giant has reportedly banned one million gamers from its Xbox Live service for illegally modifying their Xbox 360 game console to play pirated games. This means that anyone caught playing an illegally downloaded game could have their Xbox permanently banned from the network. As a result, a slew of fully functioning “modded” Xboxes are turning up on Craigslist, some with dozens of games already on board. The only catch is that you won’t be able to play online – ever. The controversial ban comes just as the year’s most hotly anticipated online multiplayer game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, hit store shelves… and file-sharing websites.
