Former gang members are fighting back against crime by telling young people about their past mistakes. Sean Stevenson once served time in prison for armed robbery, but now he walks the streets of Columbus in an effort to keep kids from following in his footsteps.

The former inmate told ABC 6/FOX 28 community leaders should work with current gang members to cut down on violence in the city. “These gangs are going all over the city,” Stevenson said. “I am saying, keep the violence out of the equation, It’s alright to be affiliated with a group — keep the violence out.”

Another felon, Cordell Morrison, uses his position as a barber at Cuts on the Avenue in the Mt. Vernon area to tell young people to stay on the right track. “A lot of them getting shot and killed, that I know,” Morrison said.

“You just need more people out there with them. Don’t be afraid, they need guidance.” WATCH VIDEO HERE
