Presidential candidate Scott Walker has thrown in the towel and dropped out of the race. A CNN poll released on Sunday showed that Walker’s support amongst Republicans had dropped tremendously. He received less than one-half of one percent, which is extremely low compared to his contenders. “I suspend my campaign immediately,” he said during a press conference on Monday. “I encourage other candidates to do the same so that the voters can focus on a limited number of candidates who can offer a positive, conservative alternative to the current front-runner. “Straight Outta Compton” Director Becomes Highest-Grossing Black Director

Straight Outta Compton Director F. Gary Gray has made history as the highest-grossing Black director for a single film in domestic sales. The movie, centered on the journey of N.W.A., has garnered $157.5 million in the U.S. and Canada. He’s surpassed director Keenen Ivory Wayans, who brought in $157 million for Scary Movie. Other movies Gray has directed include Law Abiding Citizen, Friday, and Set It Off. Read more.


Jordan Peele to Create Horror Movie about Race

After it was revealed that this season of Key and Peele would be its last, Jordan Peele is now focusing on his next project. He’s reportedly working on creating a horror movie that will delve into the worries of being a Black man in the U.S. today. “I’ve been spending the first half of my career focusing on comedy but my goal, in all honesty, is to write and direct horror movies. I have one that I’m working on with Darko Entertainment called ‘Get Out’ – I don’t want to say too much about it, but it is one of the very, very few horror movies that does jump off of racial fears,” he said in an interview. “That to me is a world that hasn’t been explored. South Africans Protest Pharrell Williams Concert

Nearly 500 people in South Africa’s Cape Town protested outside of a concert venue where Pharrell Williams was scheduled to perform. Demonstrators claim that Williams’ deal with South African retailer Woolworths is wrong because of the company’s trade connections with Israel. “By working with Woolworths, Pharrell supports Israel, a country that supports the oppression of Palestine, a country that is the new apartheid state,” said a protester. Williams is working with Woolworths as their style director and is also playing a role raising money for one of their education campaigns. Read more.
