Democratic Presidential Candidates Hold First Debate In Las Vegas

Another round of political debates took place on Sunday night and this time, the Democratic presidential hopefuls were back in the hot seat.

Per usual, the potential candidates faced a barrage of questions on several topics including international relations, the domestic war on drugs, global warming, health care and the youth vote, but it was a brief discussion of the most recent polls that resulted in a memorable quote from Vermont State Senator Bernie Sanders.

In response to moderator Lester Holt questioning him on recent poll numbers showing Hilary Clinton currently ahead of him with the minority vote, Bernie had this to say:

“When the African American community becomes familiar with my congressional record and with our agenda and with our views on the economy and criminal justice, just as the general population has become more supportive, so will the African American community, so will the Latino community.

We have the momentum, we are on a path to victory.”

Bernie’s quote seemed fitting, considering that Sunday night’s debate was hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Institute in none other than Charleston, South Carolina.

What are your thoughts on Bernie’s comments?
