When you think of soul singer Anthony Hamilton, being funny probably doesn’t come to mind, but contrary to popular belief, the “Amen” crooner is knee-slappingly hilarious.

In 2015, the R&B singer and a few friends, The Hamiltones, decided to spice up their rehearsals with great gospel-inspired trap covers. Anthony and The Hamiltones became a viral sensation when they released their spiritual cover of Silento’s “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” To ride the viral wave, they quickly followed up with dope covers of Rae Sremmurd’s “Come Get Her,” 2 Chainz’s “Watch Out,” and Drake’s “Hotline Bling.”

Anthony Hamilton stopped by Global Grind’s offices to discuss his forthcoming new album What I’m Feelin’, being a hip-hop head, his trap covers, recovering from divorce, and performing at the White House with Usher.

Anthony Hamilton’s ninth studio album What I’m Feelin’ is out March 25. You can catch him in living color on tour with Fantasia Barrino. Watch our exclusive interview with Anthony Hamilton up top.
