The New England Patriots won their sixth Lombardi Trophy in a slow, defensive battle, 13-3 over the Los Angeles Rams Sunday night in Super Bowl LIII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Rookie running back Sony Michel scored on a 2-yard run with seven minutes left in the game to give the Patriots a 10-3 lead. Kicker Stephen Gostkowski later added a field goal to close out the scoring.

Julian Edelman, who finished with 10 receptions for 141 yards, was named Super Bowl MVP.

The Rams (15-4) were back in the Super Bowl for the first time since meeting against the Patriots 17 years ago. The Patriots (14-5) were back for the third straight time looking for revenge after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles last year.
