Idris Elba and R&B sensation Khalid will host and perform on the Saturday Night Live stage on March 9.

After dropping the Suncity EP in 2018, Khalid has talked about releasing his sophomore studio album before his Coachella set in April. An appearance on SNL could correspond with new music.

Elba finally gets his chance to take the Studio 8H stage after a successful career yet he has never hosted SNL.  His episode comes just ahead of the March 15 premiere of both his directorial debut Yardie, and Turn Up Charlie, his new Netflix comedy series that he co-created and stars in.

Khalid’s double-platinum project hosted the Top 20 singles “Location” and “Young Dumb & Broke.” The Texan also scored a hit with the Normani duet “Love Lies.”

Season 44 of Saturday Night Live has already featured musical guests such as Kanye West, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Ella Mai, Anderson Paak, and Meek Mill. This will be Khaled’s first performance on the NBC sketch comedy program.
