We literally JUST reported a positive story about the man who went above and beyond to support Girl Scouts of America! If you recall, the previously unidentified man paid a little over $500 for 121 boxes of cookies to help two Girl Scouts get out the rain! His generosity immediately went viral after a picture was posted of him with the girls he thoughtfully supported.

Well, now we are reporting that this same very generous man is now in the custody of U.S Marshals! The man, identified as Detric McGowan, was arrested Tuesday morning for his involvement in a long-term federal drug investigation by the U.S Drug Enforcement Agency. The investigation is said to have begun in September 2018 and spanned out-of-state.

He was taken into custody by DEA at his home in Laurens County, South Carolina. U.S Marshals seized cash as well as other assets from McGowan during his arrest.

McGowan is being accused of allegedly attempting to import drugs from Mexico. He is accused of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute heroin, cocaine and fentanyl.

McGowan, along with several associates, all have received a lengthy list of charges in their indictment. According to the indictment, McGowan specifically is facing the following charges:

  • Conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances,
  • Conspiracy to import controlled substances
  • Conspiracy to commit bulk cash smuggling ($1,004,665.00)
  • Interstate travel and transportation in aid of drug trafficking business
  • Possession with intent to distribute and distribution of heroin
  • Maintaining a drug-involved premise
  • Conspiracy to structure transactions to evade reporting requirement
  • Three counts of unlawful use of a communication facility

McGowan will have a bond hearing on Friday.

This is certainly a sour turn of events for a man who was so sweet and thoughtful to those Girl Scouts.
