New program helps former inmates make the best out of their second chance.

The Columbus Urban League is offering a program called “Choose2 Change,” that will make released inmates transition easier and help them avoid making mistakes that will send them back in jail. Everything from obtaining the proper identification to dealing with family dynamics that may have changed while they were away will be addressed.

“The average person doesn’t realize what these men go through and what they’ve been through in their life,” Program director Derrick Foster says.

Sessions will include 20 participants that will meet weekly for eight weeks. The programs hopes are to pass 100 men each year.
