According to CNN South California was hit a a big earthquake,that hit the richter scale at a magnitude of 6.14. The last time the California felt a shake that big was in 1999, when the earthquake was about 7.1.
From Las vega, NV to Los Angeles, CA the earthquake was felt for about 15-20 sec. Firefighter were on scene for reported incidents, some being fires broken out of rock slides.
Seismologist Lucy Jones explained that the quake had enough distance from the San Andreas fault “that any impact on the system will be minimal,” but it is possible that stronger earthquakes could still happen.
