Sade’s musical career as of late seems to be one that’s of leisure.  She doesn’t work unless she feels inspired to do so.

That would partially explain why Sade has turned down many requests from other musicians to collaborate on new material.

In an L.A. Times interview, Sade revealed why she turns down  requests from the likes of Jay-Z to do a song together.

“I’m too scared,” she says. “They’ll find me out. It’s like ‘The Wizard of Oz.’ They’ll find out there’s nothing there. As for collaborations, I’m collaborating with the band and do what we do. I see myself as a member of this band who does these songs that we write.”

Though she may not go into the studio with you, Sade did reveal that there is one way you could get her on a track…

One 21st century music business convention she does acknowledge enjoying is sampling. “When it comes to sample clearances, I’m probably the cheapest chick in the west,” she says, quite amused by that idea.
