Four days into the new year, with the world quickly discovering the “golden voice” of Ted Williams, the Columbus panhandler found himself awash in potential job offers.

Dispatch video posted on YouTube was logging views by the tens of thousands, and businesses large and small were envisioning ways to make use of Williams’ distinct sound.

Countless overtures, including many arriving by e-mail and telephone to the Dispatch newsroom, came from obscure entities throughout the country: assorted family businesses, small-town radio stations, screenwriters seeking the rights to Williams’ life story. READ MORE
