COLUMBUS, Ohio – A 21-year-old man is behind bars accused of breaking into cars and garages.

The overnight burglaries happened off Harwood Drive in southwest Columbus.

Thomas Lee Jones was arrested around 5 a.m. and charged with breaking and entering.

Police said Jones loaded a stolen SUV with property stolen from multiple victims.

Robert Vantilburg said he became suspicious when he spotted his garage door open early Monday.

“It was only 4:30 a.m., I thought the guy could still be around,” said Vantilburg. “Sure enough, there was some activity over there. I called 911. Eight cruisers showed up in two minutes. They pulled him out of my parents’ garage.”

It is unclear how many garages and cars were targeted.

Police said the recovered property included power tools, an air compressor, money, a camera, frozen chicken nuggets, corn dogs and ice cream.

Detectives said they also recovered two stolen IDs from a nearby street.

Jones has been charged with one count of breaking and entering. More charges are pending. SOURCE
