We’ve all seen the men participating in No-Shave November to support prostate cancer but now there is a ladies movement asking women NOT to shave their armpits in August called Armpits4August!
Why would a female not shave? Well it’s all in support of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Participants grow underarm hair for one month, and ask friends and family to sponsor them to raise money for Verity, the charity for people with PCOS. PCOS affects up to 10% of women and is even more prevalent amongst trans* men, yet it’s hardly ever talked about. In addition Armpits4August is encouraging women not not fall in the “pitfalls” of society being forced to shave.
I think it’s great that people are getting awareness out with these movements and charities but I ask you.. Do you think asking women not to shave is NASTY or GOOD?
