Beloved television host Alex Trebek officially announced today that he has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. Trebek has been hosting Jeopardy! for more than 30 years. He decided to share his news by posting a personal video onto the Jeopardy! YouTube page. He makes it clear he will keep working throughout his cancer journey. I have attached this video below.

Alex Trebek, who has always been known for his charismatic and cool on screen demeanor, first began his journey hosting Jeopardy! in 1984. It quickly became one of the most popular game shows in television history and Trebek easily became a pop culture icon. More so, he has become somewhat omnipresent, with many popular shows and people creating parodies in honor of the multifaceted host.

He has won five Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Game Show Host throughout his lengthy television career.

During a July 2018 interview, Trebek suggested that the end of the line was approaching when he revealed that the chances of him returning to host Jeopardy! after the end of his contract in 2020 were “50/50 and a little less.”

Alex Trebek has always been an active volunteer and spokesman for countless organizations. He has participated in 13 USO tours visiting American troops overseas and in 1998 he was awarded the prestigious Bob Hope Entertainment Award.

Alex Trebek is more than a household name. He is legendary. He almost feels like that distance famous and articulate uncle we all love and can’t wait to see every night. I’m sure we and all his loyal fans and viewers will keep him in our prayers.
