Akon was scheduled to perform in Sri Lanka on April 23, however the Director of General Information for the small island country announced on Monday (March 22)that Akon’s visa to enter the country has been denied.
Akon has been banned after David Guetta’s “Sexy Chick” video was realeased featuring Akon. In the video it depicts scantily clad women dancing around a Buddhist statue.
The Sri Lankan buddhist community errupted in protest over the video.
Consequently, on Monday, over 200 people gathered outside the offices of Maharaja Broadcasting throwing stones at the office building, shattering windows, damaging cars and injuring four workers.
