In high school Brown began acting and while at Stanford realized acting was something that he really wanted to do. During an interview with Deadline, Brown spoke about his journey and Randall’s story.

When Brown first read the pilot for “This Is Us” he said, “It was the best pilot I had read for network television. It was so layered, and what particularly struck me was that every character of the Pearson Five had something really substantial to do. It made me crack up; it made me cry.”

Brown plays the character of Randall and in the show you can see the relationship has with his adopted father. In real life Brown lost his father at the age of 10 so some of the emotions from the show are very real. While filming he revealed that it helped him discover things about his own father and how despite everything that happened he’s still able to be successful.

Brown also spoke on his relationship with actor Ron Cephas Jones and how amazing it was to work with him. He is looking forward to the second season and just recently a clip was released.
