High School shooting in Parkland

It’s been almost a month since the horrific mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School where 19-year-old shooter Nikolas Cruz killed 17 people.

According to NBC News:
Cruz’s formal arraignment is set for Wednesday and the prosecution is opting for the death penalty. However Cruz’s lawyers are opting for life in prison instead, saying “there were so many warning signs that Cruz was mentally unstable and potentially violent, and that the death penalty might be going too far.”

It’s more than likely that Cruz will plead guilty only IF prosecutors take the death penalty off the table. It looks like Cruz’s defense will argue he was battling severe mental illness and depression after his adoptive mother passed away.
The only other possible option for Cruz is life in prison with no possibility of parole.
