A Pittsburgh principal has come under fire for not only putting choke holds on students who were fighting but for also suspending onlooking students for taking pictures and sharing them on social media!  Principal Todd Whitmire, told television station KTVU the photo was taken last Friday as he restrained a 15-year-old student who refused to stop fighting with another male student and stated that the picture did not show what really happened.

Principal Whitmire wasn’t upset that the picture was taken but he was more concerned about the demeaning and racist comments written by students.  He suspended ten students that forwarded a version of the photo that had inappropriate captions added to it.  A total of 12 students were suspended, two for fighting and the other for their social media activity with the pictures.  Students told the television station that the thought the suspension was a extreme form of punishment because they were exercising their first amendment right to free speech.

Do you agree with the student or with the principals decision?
