Last Combat Troops Have Left Iraq

The last combat brigade, the convoy of the Army’s 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team crossed the Iraq border into Kuwait around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday morning (6:30 p.m. Wednesday EST).
The quiet timing of the exit occured two weeks ahead of the August 31st deadline set by Commander in Chief Obama.
Approximately 50,000 U.S. troops will remain in Iraq providing support and training for the Iraqi military.
