John Mayer is feeling the sting of regret for comments he made to “Playboy” magazine.  TMZ.com reports that Mayer took to his Twitter account to express contrition over the use of a racial slur in his comments to the adult mag.  During the interview, he said that African-Americans have given him a, quote, “hood pass.”  Mayer then arguably made things worse when he expanded on what a “hood pass” is by using the “N-word.”  In Mayer’s Twitter apology, he wrote, quote, “I am sorry that I used the word.  And it’s such a shame that I did because the point I was trying to make was in the exact opposite spirit of the word itself.”

The singer added, quote, “It was arrogant of me to think I could intellectualize using it, because I realize that there’s no intellectualizing a word that is so emotionally charged.”
